Designer Skin Spellbound Tanning Lotion
Spellbound by Designer Skin is a unique quadruple ultra dark tanning serum. With a pleasing tropical blossom fragrance this strong tanning bed lotion is certain to give you a rich, dark bronze glow. It’s formula contains an extravagant blend of Melanin Activating Peptides, DHA, Erythrulose, Black Walnut Extract and Tyrostan. This lotion is appropriate for all skin types and it hydrates and promotes young-looking, soft, smooth skin with its revolutionary silicone emulsion care. Standard bottom size is 10oz.
My biggest pre-requisite before trying out a new indoor tanning bed lotion, is that it cannot be a bronzer, so when I went to pick out a lotion from the Designer Skin collection, I had an unusually hard time finding a tanning bed lotion maximizer that failed to contain a bronzer. I selected Spellbound, because while the outline on the wholesale wesite was iffy, it appeared as if all of their other products contained a bronzer.
As superficial as it may appear, the only reason I needed to try a lotion from Designer Skin had to do with its packaging. Their bottles are like artwork - very unique, artsy and super cute. I have nothing but respect for the marketing genius who designed these things. Unfortunately, my experience with Designer Skin’s Spellbound failed to measure up to the hype.
Usually, tanning is a nice experience for me, but on opening the sample packet, I was straight away twitchy. The lotion is colored a medium tan color, and that is customarily the first sign of a bronzer. I held the packet up to my nose and smelled a mixture of an after tan odour and a unpleasant bronzer smell. I was confused but it was too late to turn back.
I usually do not use bronzers because I am going light on the lotion application and always wind up with major streaks. In case this was indeed a bronzer, I took my time and used the whole packet to make sure I did not miss an in. of my body, and to make sure that it was uniformly applied.
I used Spellbound in a level 3 tanning bed, but I emerged not noticing too much of a difference, and not smelling too yummy. There’s no way I would have gone out for a public outing after using this stuff. In fact, I raced home to shower the stank off me.
Before I showered, I returned online to ensure that Spellbound really wasn’t a bronzer. The internet site I bought it from contained a description that was very imprecise, so I went to Designer Skin’s web site, and sure enough:
“Powerful quadruple bronzing serum…DHA…”
I raced off to the shower and was able to dodge any streaking. I permitted myself to get sucked into Designer Skin’s selling, a.k.a. Wonderful bottle designs, and of course, I will not be trying another lotion from Designer Skin for a long time, often because I could not find a single lotion of theirs that did not contain a bronzer. I shouldn’t have to dig that hard to find something I like.
